Adams County Sheriff’s Office – Forensic Unit
Established under the leadership of Sheriff Travis Patten in April 2025, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Unit represents a major step forward in the county’s ability to investigate and solve complex crimes. This specialized division includes the previously established Digital Forensic Unit, which utilizes state-of-the-art technology to collect, examine, and preserve digital evidence.
The Forensic Unit is staffed by highly trained Deputies who specialize in several key disciplines, including:
- Digital Forensics
- Criminal Intelligence Analysis
- Cybercrime Investigations
- Bloodstain Pattern Analysis
- Crime Scene Investigation
These Deputies collaborate closely with the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division (C.I.D.) and Narcotics Division, providing critical support that enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of local investigations.
In addition to working within Adams County, the Forensic Unit partners with numerous state and federal agencies, including:
- Mississippi Bureau of Investigation
- Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics
- Mississippi Attorney General’s Office
- Mississippi Office of Homeland Security (MOHS)
- Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)
- U.S. Marshals Service
- U.S. Secret Service
- Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
The Unit also maintains strong working relationships with neighboring law enforcement agencies, such as the Natchez Police Department, Vidalia Police Department, and the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office, along with other surrounding jurisdictions, to ensure a coordinated response to criminal activity across community lines.
