Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten and the A.C.S.O. Family had the privilege of celebrating National Read Across America Day at Susie B. West Elementary School.
Sheriff Patten is honored to have the opportunity to promote literacy and a love to explore the world through reading within his community. He read “The Rescuers”, a Walt Disney Productions Book to third grade scholars.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office also shared a diverse range of books by various authors in pursuit of promoting inclusion, which is a core principle of this year’s Read Across America theme.
Sheriff Patten told students in a roundtable discussion, “No matter if you want to be a professional athlete, law enforcement officer, or attorney, you have to be able to read.” He continued to share, “I’m giving you this tip right now. Always read the fine print” to which students responded with smiles and head nods.
